Campylopodium buchananii (Stirt.) Paris. Isotype material in CHR (J. Buchanan 65 ex Wellington, CHR 543123A!) is C. capillaceum. This material was correctly named by Brotherus as Campylopus flexipes, an earlier heterotypic synonym. However Dixon (1914, p. 71) and Giese & Frahm (1985b) both included Campylopodium buchananii and its homotypic synonyms in the synonymy of Campylopodium lineare. It is likely that the Buchanan collection is mixed and that a lectotype needs to be selected in order to clarify the application of this name.
