editorial
Name and authorities in this database from 2007 as Dietes bicolor (Lindl.) Sweet ex G.Don (1839), in IPNI (Jan 2023) as Dietes bicolor Sweet ex G.Don, Hort. Brit. [Loudon], ed. 2. 587 (1832), but (Jan 2023) in POWO, GBIF and Tropicos as Dietes bicolor (Steud.) Sweet ex Klatt (1866). Steudel's name in Moraea is obviously, to him, a new combination, and although Bot. Mag. is mentioned, presumably it was based on Lindley's Iris bicolor from Edwards' Botanical Register 17, Pl. 1404 which had a coloured illustration as well as a description of the plant.
