Gloeosporium robergei Desm. 1853

Gloeosporium robergei was reported as the asexual morph of A. carpinea (Potebnia 1910, Treigien & Markovska 2007). However, there are no molecular data to prove this. Gloeosporium robergei was reported as the causal agent of bud mortality and twig cankers on Ostrya virginiana (Sinclair & Hudler 1980). Sequences of this species (CBS 617.72 and CBS 738.68) placed the genus in the Diaporthales, but not in the Gnomoniaceae or Melanconidaceae (Sogonov et al. 2008).
