Plant perennial; culms decumbent, weak, 30-60 cm tall, glabrous, 3-4 internodes elongated, much longer than the subtending leaf-sheaths. Basal sheaths dark coloured, pubescent; ligule 2-4 mm long, membranous, rounded, erose, glabrous; leaf blade flat, narrow linear-lanceolate, 10-20 cm long, 1.5-3.0 mm wide, bands of bulliform cells several, weakly developed. Panicle more or less linear, 5-10 cm long, erect; branches binate at nodes, floriferous about whole length, appressed. Pedicels glabrous, smooth. Spikelets 1-2-flowered, lanceolate, c. 2.8 mm long, glabrous. Glumes chartaceous ovate-lanceolate glabrous, lower c. 0.7 mm, upper c. 1.2 mm long. Lemma 2.5-3.0 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, acute, awnless to minutely mucronate, 3 (occasionally faintly 5)- nerved, keeled, echinate. Palea about as long as lemma, 1-2 nerved, echinate. Lodicules c. 0.7 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, often asymmetrically lobed. Stamens 3, anthers c. 1 mm long, filaments short. Caryopsis c. 1.5 mm long, laterally compressed. Somatic chromosomes 28.
Plant perennial of medium stature. Ligule membranous non-ciliate. Leaf blade narrow linear-lanceolate; epidermis without distinctive silica cells; microhairs absent; chlorenchyma diffuse. Inflorescence a panicle; spikelets pedicellate, small, 1 (occasionally 2)-flowered, laterally compressed, rachilla produced beyond floret, disarticulating above glumes. Glumes unequal, shorter than floret, 1 and 1-3-nerved, keeled. Lemma keeled, 3-nerved, occasionally with 2 additional weak nerves, chartaceous, awnless to mucronate. Palea similar, 1—2—nerved. Lodicules 2, non-ciliate Stamens 2 or 3. Ovary glabrous; styles 2, apical plumose. Fruit small (c. 1.5 mm), laterally compressed, ovoid, free; hilum punctiform, basal. Starch grains compound. Chromosomes basic number 7, medium size.
Plant perennial, culms decumbent, weak, 25-50 cm long, with 5-6 internodes elongated, glabrous; internodes much longer than subtending leaf sheaths. Basal sheaths dark coloured, ± pubescent; ligule 2-5 mm long, membranous, rounded, erose, ± glabrous; leaf blade flat, narrow linear-lanceolate, 6-12 cm long, 1.5-3.0 mm wide, both surfaces smooth, adaxial ± pubescent, bands of bulbiform cells several, weakly developed. Panicle ± pyramidal, branches binate, spreading to reflex. Pedicels pubescent ± appressed to branches. Spikelets 1-flowered, lanceolate, c. 3 mm long. Glumes ovate-lanceolate to ovate, 1-nerved or upper 3 nerved; lower glume c. 0.7 mm long, upper c. 1.0 mm long. Lemma 2.5-3.0 mm long, ovate-lanceolate, acute, mucronate, 3 (faintly 5)- nerved, ± keeled, pubescent. Palea about as long as lemma, 1-2-nerved, pubescent. Lodicules c. 0.7 mm long, ovate lanceolate, often asymmetrically lobed. Stamens 2. anthers c. 1 mm long, filaments short. Caryopsis c. 1.5 mm long, laterally compressed. Somatic chromosomes 28.
