A glabrous, creeping herb; stems reddish, up to 4cm long, simple or sparingly branched, rooting at nodes, dry leaves persisting at base. Leaves opposite, secund, densely crowded; petioles up to 5 mm long, broad, shortly connate; lamina fleshy, oblanceolate, (3)-6-12 × 2-5 mm, margins distantly but conspicuously denticulate. Flowers 1 or 2 in upper axils, c. 10 mm diameter. Calyx tube obconical, 3—5 mm long; calyx lobes narrow triangular, obtuse, ±5 mm long (Fig. 1). Petals white, broad, extending beyond the calyx lobes, deeply bilobed. Anthers of longer stamens reaching almost to the tip of the clavate-capitate stigma. Capsules 10—15 mm long, curved, glabrous, rather stout (Fig. 2). Fruiting peduncles 2-3 mm long. Seeds smooth, coma white, readily detaching after capsule dehiscence.
Herba repens, glabra, caules ad 4 cm longi, rubescentes, basi foliis siccis persistentibus obtecta, ramuli pauci vel nulli; folia opposita conferta secunda petioli ad 5 mm longi, lati, breviter connati; laminae carnosae, oblanceolatae, (3)— 6—12 mm longae × 2—5 mm latae, marginibus remote sed conspicue denticulatis. Flores 1-2 in axillis superioribus, c. 10 mm diametro. Calyx tubo obconico, 3-5 mm longo, lobis obtusis anguste triangularibus, 4—6 mm longis. Petala alba, lata, profunde bilobata. Capsula 10—15 mm longa, curvata, glabra, paulo crassa. Pedunculis 2—3 mm longis. Semina glabra.
