Current generic circumscription: Basidiomata annual, as small pustules, cupulate-discoid to resupinate with raised margin, pale ochre to light pink, gelatinous when fresh, horny when dry. Hyphal system monomitic, generative hyphae thin- to thick-walled, with clamps. Lamprocystidia (metuloid cystidia) present, hymenial to subhymenial, thick-walled. Gloeocystidia present in one species. Dendrohyphidia present in some species, usually only slightly branched. Basidia clavate, with four sterigmata. Basidiospores large, subglobose to ellipsoid, walls thin, smooth, non-amyloid. Type species: Aleurocystis hakgallae (Berk. & Broome) G. Cunn. 1956.
