Descriptions
Although worldwide distributed, the clade Spirale contains individual species that appear to have specific geographical patterns of distribution. For example, T. gilbertogili sp. nov. (SPG 1) was found in South America and Africa, whereas T. spirale (SPG 2) and T. subazureum (SPG 10) were exclusively isolated from Asia; T. subuliforme (SPG 4) was found in Africa, Asia and North America and the undescribed species in SPG 7 was found in Europe, North America and New Zealand, while and SPG 8 was the most widely distributed species, isolated from five continents, Africa, Europe, South, North and Central America.
